PARTNERS

Since the school opened 5 years ago, operating costs have been covered by private donors. The main contributors have been the Air France Foundation (3 years) and CDC Development Partnership (2 years). There have been some additional smaller donations from sponsors and organizations however sourcing sufficient funds remains an ongoing concern.

The goal is that over time EdB becomes increasingly self-funded from profits generated by the workshop.

In the first year of commercial operation, profits from sales covered 80% of the workshops operating costs. This included all administration, salaries, meals for staff, electricity, maintenance and repairs and materials. In the second year of operation turnover increased 32% and profits from sales covered 97% of the workshops operating costs. The figures show that good progress is being made.

The sourcing of sufficient funds remains a constant concern and is likely to remain essential for the foreseeable future, especially as repairs and renovations to buildings become necessary.

Ecole du Bois has an onsite management team consisting of Mr. Ngin Sophea, the school director and Mr. Simon Bouju, an experienced Joiner, managing the workshop. Simon has worked at EdB on several previous occasions assisting the teachers with teaching methodology and curriculum development.
